Jay Herman of Aspers, a director of Adams Electric Cooperative since 2019 representing Zone 2, earned the national Credentialed Cooperative Director (CCD) certification through the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) in December.
The CCD curriculum provides the essential knowledge and skills required of cooperative directors. Adams requires its directors to complete a director orientation program as well as the CCD courses. Herman joins seven other Adams’ directors who have received the designation.
Additionally, Board President Glenn Bange of Hanover, representing Zone 3; Vice President Nadine Hubner of Felton representing Zone 6; Treasurer Tom Knaub of Wellsville, representing Zone 4; and S. Eugene Herritt of Shippensburg, representing Zone 8 have recently renewed their Director Gold certifications, for continued cooperative education from NRECA. The certificate can be renewed every two years.
The certificate program provides advanced learning opportunities to cooperative board members who have already completed NRECA’s Credentialed Cooperative Director Certificate (CCD) and Board Leadership Certificate (BLC).
To earn the certificate, board members must earn three approved continuing education credits by attending various director courses and conferences within a two-year period. After the gold certificate is achieved, directors must continue to earn three credits every two years to maintain their gold status.
