Project Helping Hand

phh logoThanks to Adams Electric members, Project Helping Hand has been able to help keep the lights on for more than 250 co-op members per year for the last 25 years. When those members fell on hard times, they turned to Project Helping Hand, administered through local human service agencies.

You can help to by joining the nearly 5,000 other Adams Electric members who allow the co-op to "Round-Up" their electric bills to the nearest even dollar amount. The difference in change goes to Project Helping Hand. This program helps less fortunate co-op members, who are unable or struggling to pay their electric bill.

How it works...

  • Join Round-Up for Project Helping Hand (PHH) to support co-op members in need. If your electric bill is $85.36, you would pay $86. Your bill would show that you are giving 64 cents to Round-Up, listed under your non-basic charges. Take your donation a step further and modify your recurring PHH donation to Round-Up Plus by adding an additional dollar (or amount of your choosing) to each month's electric bill. Likewise, consider a lump sum donation payable to PHH by sending a check made out to Project Helping Hand and submit it along with your utility bill payment.

A member’s Ownership Rewards (patronage capital credits) checks may also be turned over to Project Helping Hand. Checks can be individually signed over by writing “For PHH Deposit Only” on the back of the check, in the endorsement area, or requesting a form from the co-op that will turn your credits over in perpetuity. These forms must be notarized when submitted, which can be done at any cooperative district office.

Donations to Project Helping Hand directly help qualifying Adams Electric members who are struggling to pay their electric bills. PHH has a 501(c)(3) status and your donation is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Please check with your tax adviser on deductibility. All donors will receive acknowledgement of gifts via a letter from the Adams County Community Foundation which helps administer the co-op’s PHH program.
