Co-op Elections

New election process reaches out to more members

The co-op has nine zones for electing directors and each year three of those zones are up for election. Zone 2 (Adams and Cumberland counties), Zone 6 (York County) and Zone 7 (Franklin County) have open seats in 2010.

In prior years, primary elections were held at the co-op’s zone meetings in March, where there were contested seats, in order to select the ballot position for candidates running in the general election. This year, Zone 2 has two candidates running. A primary (ballot position) election will be held on March 9 at a zone meeting at the Eisenhower Inn in Gettysburg. In addition, on March 1, primary election ballots were mailed to all members residing in Zone 2 for voting purposes. Plus members residing in the two other zones with open seats (zones 6 and 7) received election information materials as part of the revamped primary election process.

A general election ballot will be mailed to all members in May and the entire election process will culminate at the co-op’s annual meeting, June 12, at the AllStar Complex in Gettysburg.
